August 1st 2011 shark trip

Left the dock today around 5 am and steamed out to the old faithful shark grounds with 6 anglers. I could tell the water is warming up because we saw a Mako pup finning the surface about 6.5 miles off the beach. Once we got out to the grounds we set up the slick and rigs. About 20 minutes in to the drift we saw a thresher tail whipping a balloon. The fish took the close bait and ran at the same time the second rig went off. We came tight on both rigs and one rig broke off, thinking we still had the thresher because of the way the fish was fighting and the 1 and a 1/2 hour fight we finally saw the fish. It was the biggest Blue Shark I have ever seen. After a release we set up again and hooked 2 more blue sharks and called it a day. At around 10 we called it a day and headed in.
